The right malinois for the right person: Benny is all about making that perfect match. He’s a young adult mal, approximately 4 years old and 65 pounds, and is seeking a new foster or adoptive home. Contact Julie (rescuemalinois@gmail.com) for details or to apply for Benny. 

Benny is chock full of great qualities and impressive strengths. He rides well in the car, is crate trained and loves people. His foster mama describes him as a love bug, happy to lounge and play. Get this: he is cat tested and has done well! Birds, bunnies and cats have been tolerated with no issues.  

So what’s the catch? Two issues: 1) Benny can be mouthy when overexcited or anxious. If he has been crated for a long time, he can express his exuberant delight at release by giving toothy hugs. Similarly, in stressful situations, he does struggle with a lack of confidence and this shows up as mouthiness. 2) Benny is dog-selective. He needs to stick with healthy, non dominant dogs. Medical issues in other dogs tend to trigger him. He has been living with a range of dogs and he does very well with some (including another malinois) but he does have issues with a dog in a wheelchair and a dog with cancer.  

Malinois through and through, Benny can be standoffish at first but warms up. He has an instinctive sense of “dog people” and is an attentive and well behaved boy with folks who “get” him. He is food motivated, receptive to training, and a gorgeous boy. Could you be the right home for him?
