About Kenai - southeast | |

Kenai (kee-nI) is a 3 year old Malinois that was surrendered by his owner due to changed circumstances in the home and a CCL injury that required surgery. He is trained in basic obedience using Dutch commands:
SITZE is sit, PLOTZ is down, FUES is heel, HEIR is here, FALLEN is drop (toy), BLIBE is stay.
He is crate trained and has good leash manners.
Since being in rescue, he has had CCL surgery to repair the injury and recovered like a true champ!
His foster reports that h is commands are:
Sit for him to sit.
Plots for him to lie down.
He will stay, drop it, and wait before he will eat his food.
Go home for going to the door and sitting down to wait for dad to open the door from the fenced yard. Once in, he will go straight to his kennel and sit.
Yes is his go command.
Check is his search command when open air location for rubber chicken.
His rubber chicken's name is baby, so you can tell him to get his baby, and he will go get it.
He walks on leash and is muzzle trained, so he is ready for vet visits.
He loves his home which is his kennel. Storms really don’t bother him, fireworks didn’t really phase him either. But, gun shots will make him talk. He is house trained.
He will stay close to his kennel if he can’t see his person.
Kenai currently lives with a small dog, but his fosters have taken several months to introduce the two and always supervise. How Kenai will do with other dogs his size is u nknown at this time.
He may react in his kennel if he hears new voices in the home, and he can not see the person. Once he sees the new person and knows they are accepted by his dads, he settles quickly. But, he NEEDS to know it is okay or he exhibit destructive behaviors.
In addition to his normal movement and training around the house, Kenai is exercised daily outdoors for about 45 minutes. This includes a lot of fetching, sit/stay while his dads do things to distract him, running the fenced yard to look for new things, and ending in a down stay while he waits for baby to be hidden for him to search.
Kenai will need an active family who will continue his training and keep his mind engaged.
ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.
