Animal Success Stories
Gabby's amazing improvement
Gabby when she first came into rescue. Gabby now, a happy healthy girl
Gabby - before Gabby - now, a happy healthy girl

Gabby first came into rescue as a sickly little puppy. She was located in CO but our adoptive home (Scott and Naila) was located in another state. The new owner was willing to fly into CO to pick up Gabby and since she was so small she got to ride in the cabin. Fast forward a few years and Gabby is now a strikingly beautiful, athletic girl in a happy, loving home.

Lime Green Puppy - MD

Koa is my first Mal. I am absolutely in love with her. She is smart, funny and makes me laugh daily. At the time when I was looking for a Mal a friend of mine suggested I look at ABMR. I looked at a couple of older pups but that just didn’t work out. I decided for myself and my husband that it would be better to look at puppies 8 weeks old. A coordinator in my area, Chantelle Boyle contacted Koa’s coordinator Maryfrances and we began talking about the pups and what I was looking for. Next thing I know my friend Lorraine & I headed to Maryland and I immediately feel in love with Koa AKA .

Duke - NY

Duke, where does one start with this amazing dog.  In early 2019 we received a call regarding Duke and them needing to find him a home with an experienced handler.  We had seen his profile and were very interested in him however was reluctant due to his issues with men. There was even discussion of him being destroyed if the right home could not be found.  After some thought we decided that we would move forward with fostering him.  From the moment he arrived he settled right in almost as if he knew this was his last stop.  The road has not always been easy- he had severe issues with men and strangers however after lengthy training and exposure we have worked through a lot of his issues.  In time we were able to integrate him into canine sports and now he travels all throughout the country to compete. Duke competes in Fastcat, Barnhunt and Dockdiving.  He is one of the best and most intense sports dogs of our pack.  But more importantly he is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever owned.  Duke was a diamond in the rough and we could not be more grateful to ABMR for selecting us to be his forever family!

Prince - NC

Prince was our first foster fail and came into our home in the Fall of 2018.  He slowly transitioned into our pack and became a crowd favorite amongst family and friends.  He is the sweetest bog boy you could possibly meet.  Like the rest of our dogs he competes in Fastcat and Dockdiving.  No interest in Barnhunt- he only likes the tunnels and no rats!  In 2021, Prince exceled in his favorite Dockdiving discipline Extreme Vertical.  He competed at Worlds and earned 3rd place in Teir 2 Finals.  He by far is the sweetest boy who when not competing enjoys cuddles on the couch or playing fetch with his favorite human cousin, Lexi.

Stella - TX

We adopted Stella out of El Paso, Texas, July 1, 2019.  Roxanne Sandt and Julie Krampe were so great to work with.  We drove from Prescott, Arizona to El Paso to pick up Stella.  Her name now is Maybelene.  We are so lucky that she picked us and we picked her.  Love at first site.  We brought her home and she fit in perfectly with our pit bulls that we rescued from the side of the road when they were dumped.  We could not have rescued a more perfect Malinois that fit in with our lifestyle so perfectly.  Thank you!

Tracker

My husband and I adopted our Belgian Malinois, Tracker, from ABMR in August 2019. We learned about Tracker through their website, he was just a young pup at the time. The rescue has coordinators assigned to each dog, so we reached out to Tracker’s and let her know we were interested. We completed the vetting process, and I packed a bag & some treats and headed to Philly to pick him up! From the very first moment that we met Tracker we knew we were his forever home. In November 2019 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer Tracker made it his job to take care of his Momma. I didn’t train him he just knows when I need his lovies and snuggles.  He even knows when I need to laugh, and he is funny on purpose. He makes my days better. He is smart, loyal, hilarious, fierce, snuggly, adorable and did I say smart! There are so many amazing things I could say about what a wonderful dog he is, but best friend sums it up!  When I come home from long days after chemo treatments, he loves away how hard it was. Tracker loves to play ball with his Dad, which is his favorite thing to do! He knows when Dad needs some extra love too, especially because dad takes good care of his Momma There is nothing better than seeing how happy Tracker is and our life is so much better with him in it. Tracker is truly the BEST part of our family! None of this would be possible without ABMR; had they not rescued Tracker from his unfortunate circumstances and put him in the most amazing Foster Home our lives would not be the same.
